The Eye Site

The biggest misconception I see as an optometrist is that people who “see just fine” don’t think they need an eye exam – FALSE! Eye exams with a doctor of optometry are not just about your vision – they’re about your eye health too! A lot of sight-threatening conditions don’t start with blurry vision; these conditions include glaucoma, melanomas, retinal holes, and even macular degeneration. The only way to detect and intervene quickly is to get routine check ups.

For healthy adults, a check-up every 1-2 years is reasonable, and for kids, seniors, or anyone with a medical condition such as diabetes, annual check-ups are advised. In B.C., MSP contributes to a portion of the cost of the eye exams for the annual check-ups for those individuals.

Don’t wait until its too late, book an eye exam today, even if you “see just fine”!
